For server owners

How we track players on your server

One small server mod checks in-game that players really reached your goal. It works on vanilla Rust: drop one file into your HarmonyMods folder, no mod loader needed. It doesn't change gameplay, doesn't touch your player count and gives no items.

Data flow

From your server to a verified goal

Your Rust server

SpawnBoost.dll

HarmonyMods/

Watches only players who pressed Start on your offer.

In transit

Signed progress report

HTTPS · HMAC-SHA256 · hashed IPs only

Queued on disk and resent if SpawnBoost can't be reached.

SpawnBoost

Verify & pay

Goal verified → reward approved

You pay only for verified goals. Unused budget is refunded.

Install and pair

  1. 1. Copy one file. Put SpawnBoost.dll into your server's HarmonyMods/ folder. On a hosting panel, upload it there with the file manager. Harmony loading is built into the Rust server.
  2. 2. Start the server. The console prints a 6-digit pairing code.
  3. 3. Enter the code on SpawnBoost under My servers → Add server. The console confirms the pairing and the server key is saved automatically.

Players who started your offer can type /sb in chat to see their own progress. Only they see the reply.

What counts as playing

A minute counts only when the player is alive, moved or looked around, and did something (gathered, built, crafted, looted, fought or chatted) in the last five minutes. Standing in one spot doing nothing is AFK and never counts, and nobody can collect more active minutes than real minutes.

What the mod sends

  • Join and leave times of players who pressed Start on your offer, by SteamID64
  • Active minutes: alive, moving or looking around, and doing something in the last 5 minutes
  • Goal events: Tool Cupboards placed (and still standing 30 minutes later), resources gathered, items crafted, building upgrades, crates looted
  • Anti-cheat statistics, such as how varied the movement was
  • Once a minute: server name, player count, map, server FPS and mod version (a heartbeat)

What it never sends

  • IP addresses: only keyed hashes, used to catch one person on several accounts
  • Player names, chat text, inventories or exact positions
  • Anything about players who didn't start one of your offers
  • Commands: the mod never runs commands it receives from the internet

Light on your server

All network and disk work runs off the game's main thread. The mod tracks only players who started your offer; for everyone else it does one quick lookup when they gather, build or loot, and that's it.

Safe by design

Every report is signed with your server's key and sent over HTTPS. If heartbeats stop for more than five minutes, your campaigns pause automatically and players' deadlines are extended.
